Trossachs via Strathendrick RunOn the 11th April at 10:30, we met in the shadow of Stirling Castle for the first run of the season. We were blessed with a beautiful spring day, and as a result everyone was in good spirits and eager to go. There were 17 riders and 2 pillions turned out with their bikes lovingly prepared over the winter (well maybe not them all!). Off we set through Stirling and up over the hill to Carron Valley, turning right to Fintry. Along the way there were signs that summer was on it's way. There was also signs that we have had a very hard winter, as it felt as though there were more potholes than road surface! We made our way to Drymen and then took the back road over to Aberfolyle and over the Duke's Pass to Brig o' Turc in the Trossachs, where we stopped for lunch at the Byre Inn. A leisurely lunch and some tyre kicking was enjoyed by all.
After we had been fed and watered, we remounted and pointed the bikes towards Callander along the side of Loch Venachar. We parted Callander and took the B road on the south side of the River Tieth to Doune. We completed the run in the car park of the Wallace Monument in Stirling with 75 miles added to our odometers (for those whose speedos work).
Thanks to Peter Oram for all his hard work in organising this.
